Now Accepting Nominations for Awards and WLA Board

The Women Lawyers Association is now accepting nominations for the Outstanding Member of the Year award and Achievement in Excellence award. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 1, 2016. A blank copy of the nomination form for each respective award is attached.

September Lunch Meeting

Please join the Women Lawyers Association for lunch on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Our featured speaker will be attorney, Delores Pregliasco, President of the League of Women Voters of Louisville. The League was founded on November 19, 1920, and it encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The goal of the League is to educate voters on all issues affecting our country, state, and community. Membership in the League is open to women and men of all ages.

The Women Lawyers Association of Jefferson County meets at the Bristol Bar & Grille Downtown, 614 West Main Street. Registration and the buffet style luncheon begins at 11:45 A.M. We ask that attendees arrive no later than 11:45 A.M.at which time there will be brief announcements from WLA. The presentation will start promptly at 12:00 P.M. and end at 1:00 P.M. The cost of lunch is $17.00. Guests are welcome.

Brandeis Medal Presentation and Dinner

The Louis D. Brandeis School of Law will award its 2016 Brandeis Medal to U.S. Supreme

Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Seelbach Hilton Louisville at 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This honor recognizes those whose lives reflect their commitment to Justice Brandeis’ values of individual liberty, public service, and concern for the disadvantaged. Tickets are available at events.louisville.edu.

National Conference of Women’s Bar Association

WLA is pleased to announce that it is now a member of the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations (“NCWBA”). NCWBA is a unique organization of women’s bar associations, for women’s bar associations, representing approximately 35,000 women lawyers. It provides a national forum for exchanging ideas and information vital to organizational growth and success in today’s profession. June Lunch Meeting

Please join the Women Lawyers Association for its annual breakfast meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2016 where Judge David Bowles will lead a discussion on the new Interpersonal Protective Order District Court Docket. This special meeting will be free and breakfast and coffee will be provided. Breakfast will begin at 7:45 a.m. and the meeting will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the Hall of Justice, Courtroom 201.

May Lunch Meeting

Please join the Women Lawyers Association for lunch on Wednesday, May 18. 2016.  Our featured speaker will be Grace Giesel of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, who will update us on Recent Developments in Professional Responsibility. 2 hours of ethics CLE has been approved by the KBA.

The Women Lawyers Association of Jefferson County meets at the Bristol Bar & Grille Downtown, 614 West Main Street. Registration and the buffet style luncheon begins at 11:00 A.M. and the seminar begins promptly at 11:30 A.M. and ends at 1:30 P.M. The cost of lunch is $17 and the seminar is Eto members who have paid their 2016 dues. Non-members are welcome and can attend for $65 plus the cost of lunch (for a total of $82).  Due to limited space, we ask that attendees pre-register for this event.
